Speech-Language Pathologist
Jessica has been a speech-language pathologist since graduating from the University of Alberta’s Masters program in 2003. Since moving back to BC in 2005, she has worked in public health with children ages 0-5. For a number of those years, she also worked privately with school-aged children. Most recently, she was the Clinical Practice Leader for the Fraser Health South Speech and Language Program. Jessica was a Hanen Learning Language and Loving It (LLLI) Instructor, training other professionals to teach this program to childcare providers.
In addition to LLLI, Jessica is certified in and has taught various Hanen parent programs, including It Takes Two to Talk, More Than Words, and Talkability. She attended the Apraxia Kids Intensive Training Institute and has expertise in the area of childhood apraxia of speech. She enjoys teaching and frequently presents on apraxia and other areas of communication.
Jessica believes in working collaboratively with families and other professionals to help children communicate with the people in their world - and to help the world communicate with them. She feels strongly that being an SLP means constantly learning and evolving her practice. In addition to apraxia, Jessica works with autistic children and those with speech sound, expressive language, and receptive language delays and disorders.
