Speech-Language Pathologist
A Speech-Language Pathologist who enthusiastically comes to play at work, Mike came to Advantage Speech-Language Pathology with a background of using creative means to explore communication. Mike has enjoyed the use of improvisation and theatre sports in therapy to strengthen social communication and promoye healthy, dynamic social interactions.
Mike has worked with deaf and hard of hearing children and their families from birth until entering kindergarten for the majority of his career. He is also passionate about treating childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), fluency and the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
Mike has a Master of Science from the University of Alberta and did his undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia in Linguistics and Psychology.
Mike sees the people he works with as individuals, and for that reason, individualization of therapy is a core tenet of his practice. Building relationships and rapport are fundamental principles he believes in which are paramount in his role to support the development of communication.
